I am a first time mom, and I will admit, I go a bit overboard on safety. Safety first is most definitely the motto in my house. I am huge on outlet covers, door knob covers, baby gates and just about anything else you could think of. My little girl, Molly, just turned one over the summer, so she is walking all over the place. While I am so proud of her, it scares me to death. I am so worried that she’s going to fall down and crack her cute little head. My husband says I am overprotective; I say it’s a mom thing.
Well, over the summer, we spent a lot of time outside. We have a pool in the backyard and have always been a big outdoorsy family. Molly loved playing in the water with us. We got her an adorable little inflatable duck, and of course she wore water wings and a life jacket. It would take a gravitational miracle to bring her down, and that’s just the way I wanted it.
Now that summer has come to an end, and my baby is now a toddler, I want to make sure we take every safety precaution when covering our pool. Normal pool covers are fine for families with older children or no children. But, for families with small children safety pool covers are essential.
Not only do safety pool covers prevent drowning accidents, but they also protect the pool from the damaging elements. They are securely fastened, and they create almost a vacuum like seal. Sure, all pool covers provide some protection, but safety pool covers go above and beyond that.
Once we found the perfect cover for our pool, all we had to do was install it. My husband assured me he could do it on his own, but there was no way he was going to do it without my help. I wanted to make sure all the steps were followed-he has a habit of skipping over steps and just jumping right to the conclusion. Well, that’s fine for some things, but it’s not a good method when installing safety pool covers.
With my help, our pool was successfully covered. The seal was tight, and there was no chance of any accidental drowning occurring.
By simply installing safety pool covers I gave myself peace of mind. Now, I don’t have anything to worry about. However, I wish I could talk to my neighbor about shopping for new pool covers for his pool. I guess I can’t make everyone’s space a safe one, but I can sure try!
